"Little Abode for Children" is Book 1 of the American Small Town Mysteries series, written by Sanhita Mukherjee …. had an interesting storyline and some pretty great detective and police characters, as well a child characters. Little Abode for Children is the program started at a library by a librarian named Teressa for children who were either homeless, abused, or preyed upon by gang members. The lead detective, Nathan, reminded me of a 1940s/1950s Noir book/movie character. His boss, Captain Brown is a woman, because the text says "she". I liked Captain Brown's character because she was straight forward with her questions to the detective. I also liked the little children, Jack and Melissa.
