Me Too

Hey, Hey you
I am talking to you.
The woman on the street, in the rally
The one who follows the ongoing trend in the Mass Movement.
How much have you suffered?
A pain shearing through your lower abdomen?
A feeling that everything - your uterus, ovaries, fallopian tube
All, all of it, is about to be yanked loose from your abdomen
And will fall, fall hard on the ground between your legs
An evening when you numbed your arms
Cleaning your Salwar of menstrual blood
And fainted from the exhaustion?
An evening when your mother thought you died and
Strained her arthritic knees to discover your cold fainted body on the floor of your bedroom
An afternoon when your blood clot was heavy enough
To clear the week long water clogging in the polytechnique’s washroom
And the abdominal pain, that never disappear in between cycles
Your skin turns darker, the circles beneath eyes touched your jaws
The doctor could only diagnosed hormonal imbalance
Every time you think of sipping a little something, your stomach turns
Every time you touch your notebook, your fingers twitches
In disgust reeling all over your mind and body
Your tears dried up, all you have was the wails of a broken soul
Then there were nights when you plan to end everything
With a piece of blade or a pair of scissors
Tiring yourself with scratch marks on your arms ….between wrists and elbows
Ending up in the balcony or by the window, hugging the iron bars
Looking at the starry sky, sighing and begging for some tears
So that you get some relief from your own torment
Begging some sleep to cherish a dream of revenge
Begging some sleep to cure the burning in the brain
And you regret because once - you ignored
Twice - you stopped second guessing your gut
Thrice - you wanted to retaliate
It was beginning of the millennium,
Your weapons were six years away in the future
All of a sudden you found love and you smiled
And you thought you have been cured, you have moved forward.
And Twenty Years later, the story of Min Hui shakes you hard
So hard that you bring out the can of worms that you buried decades ago within your memories
And suffer in a writhing pain that you have been overpowered
Have you been there?
Before crying the two words in the title, think, have you?
